Jeremy Melton

My name is Jeremy Melton, and the story of how I started writing is rather unique. When my son was just a few months old, he wouldn’t sleep unless he was being held. The second you tried to put him down, he’d wake up screaming. So, my wife and I took shifts holding him through the night. I would usually stay up until three or four in the morning with him in my arms. At first, I read books to keep myself awake, but one night while on vacation with my wife’s family, I ran out of things to read. Sitting in the dark, in an unfamiliar beach house, I decided to come up with a story of my own.

It started simply with an idea about an ordinary guy working at a bank that gets robbed. The next night, I added a plot twist. Then some supernatural events. After five nights in a row, I had a little story taking shape in my head. When I told my family, they encouraged me to write it down. Maybe one day my son would want to read what his dad was thinking about during those sleepless nights. What began as a ten-page short story grew into a novella. It was rough, filled with mistakes, but it was fun—and I didn’t want to stop.

Since then, I’ve written a few other stories that fizzled out in the early drafts, but each one taught me something and fueled my love for writing. Now here we are, and I’m thrilled to share a full novel with you. I hope this little hobby of mine turns into a lifelong adventure, and that you’ll come along with me on the ride.

I live in North Carolina with my wife and son. When I’m not writing, I work in nuclear medicine and spend as much time as I can with my family. I’m a bit obsessed with movies and books, and my biggest inspirations are Stephen King and Harlan Coben, whose work constantly pushes me to dig deeper into my own stories.
